Colorless cubic crystals. Commercial products are generally white porous granules or honeycomb solids. Odorless with slightly bitter taste. Relative density: 2.15 (25°C); Melting point: 782°C; Boiling point: above 1600°C. Extremely hygroscopic and deliquesces rapidly upon exposure to air. Highly soluble in water with substantial heat release, forming slightly acidic aqueous solution. Soluble in alcohols, acetone and acetic acid. Reacts with ammonia and ethanol to form complexes CaCl₂·8NH₃ and CaCl₂·4C₂H₅OH respectively. Hexahydrate crystals precipitate from aqueous solution at ambient temperature. When gradually heated to 30°C, hexahydrate dissolves in its own crystal water. Continuous heating removes crystal water stepwise: converts to dihydrate at 200°C, then turns into white porous anhydrous calcium chloride at 260°C.

I. Industrial Grade Calcium Chloride

1.Snow & Ice Melting Agent Applied for snow removal and deicing on roads, highways, parking lots and docks. Principle: Lowers the melting point of snow.

2.Desiccant Drying medium for gases including nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride and sulfur dioxide. Note: Cannot dry ammonia or ethanol due to chemical reactions.

3.Dehydrating Agent Used for dehydration in production of alcohols, esters, ethers and acrylic resins.

4.Refrigerant Calcium chloride aqueous solution serves as key refrigerant for freezers and ice making. Principle: Reduces freezing point of water down to -20~-30°C.

5.Anti-freezing Admixture for Construction Accelerates concrete hardening and improves frost resistance of mortar; high-performance building anti-freezer.

6.Fog eliminator at ports, road dust suppressant, flame retardant for cotton fabrics

7.Protective & Refining Agent for aluminum-magnesium metallurgy

8.Precipitant for lake pigment manufacturing Principle: Reacts with colorants to form insoluble precipitates.

9.Ink removal for waste paper recycling Principle: Weakens adhesion between ink and fiber to detach ink residues.

10.Raw material for manufacturing calcium salts

11.Adhesive and wood preservative in construction industry Principle: Forms viscous binding substances inside building structures.

12.Sulfate removal agent in production of chlorides, caustic soda and inorganic fertilizers to eliminate sulfate ions (SO₄²⁻)

13.Agricultural applications: Spray agent to protect wheat from dry hot wind damage, preservative for fruits such as apples, saline soil conditioner, etc.

14.Outstanding dust suppression performance a. Improve workplace safety: Reduces airborne dust during mining to lower explosion risks. Calcium chloride is formulated into surface-active liquid sprayed on tunnels and mines to control dust levels; solutions can also be sprayed on open coal seams for anti-freezing. b. Environmental purification: Effectively adsorbs road dust to improve road cleanliness and atmospheric visibility. Strong water absorption from deliquescence allows anhydrous/dihydrate calcium chloride to rapidly capture moisture in air, forming crystal water that binds dust particles for sedimentation.

15.Oil & gas drilling applications a. Stabilize mud layers: Consolidates mud formations at different depths. b. Drilling lubrication: Lubricates drill bits for smooth extraction operations. c. Plug manufacturing: High-purity calcium chloride makes well plugs to stabilize oil wells.

16.Swimming pool water treatment: Acts as pH buffer and increases water hardness to reduce concrete wall corrosion.

17.Marine aquarium water additive: Boosts bioavailable calcium for mollusks and coelenterates to synthesize calcium carbonate shells.

18.Compound fertilizer granulation raw material (dihydrate powder): Replaces clay for granulation relying on viscosity; clay is costly and darkens finished fertilizer. Dosage varies by soil condition: 10kg/ton, 15kg/ton or 25kg/ton; lower dosage in winter, higher in spring and summer.

II. Liquid Calcium Chloride

a. Wastewater Treatment Principle: Calcium ions precipitate most anions; reacts with fluoride ions to form low-solubility calcium fluoride for separation, enabling fluorine-containing wastewater to meet discharge standards.

b. Pipeline refrigerant (weak alkalinity reduces pipeline corrosion effectively)

c. Raw material for molecular sieves

d. Construction coagulant

e. Primary refrigerant in refrigeration industry

f. Sodium alginate coagulant for food processing

g. Flocculant for soybean product manufacturing

Analytical Grade Calcium Chloride

Used as chemical analytical reagent, pharmaceutical raw material, food additive and feedstock for metallic calcium production; desiccant and dehydrating agent for organic liquids and gases.

III. Food Grade Calcium Chloride

1.Beverages: Electrolyte additive to enhance palatability of drinks.

2.Pickling: Imparts mild salty taste to reduce sodium chloride dosage in pickled food.

3.Canned food: Promotes gelatinization on fruit/vegetable surfaces and thickens canned brine.

4.Tofu production: Induces emulsification and coagulation of soybean milk for tender, smooth tofu.
